Today, my sweet Thing Two has a birthday.
Thirteen years ago, he entered this world and my life has never been the same.
His older brother hit a pretty significant milestone this week: 16 with a driver’s license. With their birthdays only five days apart, sometimes it seems like since Thing One’s birthday arrives on the calendar first, that Thing Two’s birthday can be overshadowed just a bit.
So, while 16 is a huge milestone, and it’s been celebrated like crazy around here with trips to Target for emergency ping pong balls, a spin around the block in the new car, and errand running for mom, it’s important to note that 13 is an important year too. Starting today, Thing Two can:
- See a PG-13 movie without me freaking out.
- Get a Facebook page (yes, he is one of the few kids in America without one. Remember, I’m the penultimate rule-follower.)
- Play XBox Live.
- Have his own iTunes account.

Oh my!! Access to Facebook… with mom as a friend… let the fun begin!!
My favorite thing in the world is when my daughter leaves her FB page logged in and I can update and share pictures all night! Love it.

Haha, Jackie you just made me laugh. Mom being a friend on facebook is what many teenage kids try to avoid. Mine tell me that I will be embarrassed to see their posts.

Now why would you go and make that kind of promise? What’s the point of having a son on facebook if you can’t embarrass the hell out of him?
