Today’s Memorial Day.
In recent years the day has come to mean bbq, brats, macaroni salad and beer.
I confess, I’ve been all over Pinterest looking for yummy recipes, fun fashions and amazing crafts to help celebrate this day with family and friends.
But let us not lose sight of the purpose of this day.
Men and women throughout the ages have died in the service of this country.
I don’t have to agree with the military actions that put them in harm’s way to honor their lives, grieve their loss, and remember their sacrifice.
In recent years, there’s been an initiative to bring back the meaning of the day.
As for my family, at 3:00 p.m. today, we will pause and remember the lives cut short, the families who grieve, and the futures lost.
